The scope – Leica Stellaris Upright Confocal Microscope
The O’Connor lab provides access to our confocal through the Microscopes for Open Access Imaging distributed core facility at CSU. For more information about available microscopes, please visit: https://moai.colostate.edu/
Our upright LIAchroic laser scanning confocal is equipped with 4x, 10x, 20x dry, as well as 25x water dipping and 63x oil objectives. Other features include DIC optics, three high sensitivity HyD detectors, a color camera, and 405, 448, 488, 514, 561, and 638 solid-state lasers. This instrument was designed for live-imaging plant tissues and immuno-localization of fixed and sectioned samples, but it is also well suited to a variety of applications needing an upright configuration. There are no other upright confocal microscopes on campus that are part of the MOAI. The Leica software is capable of FRAP, FRET, deconvolution, and tiling applications.
Rates
All fees are used to support microscope maintenance, shared consumables, consulting, and training.
All users are required to complete an initial training session and sign a user agreement regardless of previous experience. After training users are charged an hourly fee in addition to a “start-up” fee, a higher rate for the first hour of use.
Sessions are for 1, 2, 3, or 4 hours. Longer sessions are possible but will require special consideration in order to keep the scope available for all users.
NOTE: You will be charged for all time booked on the instrument regardless of your actual use, since this prevents other users from access to the instrument.
Just want to see if your sample works on our scope before training? Use the Booking page to set up an “Ad-Hoc Consulting” slot. We will work with you to test your sample out and see if the scope will fit your research needs (1 hour only).

Onboard Training: $250 includes 5 hours of assisted use
Ad-Hoc Consulting: $30/hour
Hourly Fees:
Start-up fee (first hour of use): $17
Each additional hour: $2
